Curriculum

“Take My Word For It!” leads students on word expeditions, encouraging them to delve into their imaginations using fun, hands-on, and innovative creative writing activities.

Our after-school enrichment programs feature a different curriculum for each session of the school year: fall, winter, and spring. All of our writing activities encourage kids to think of themselves as authors and to try their hand at everything from metaphors to odes.

Community based programs take place at bookstores and community spaces and are open to kids from any school.

“Peanut Butter and the Pen” is our food writing workshop where kids use all of their senses and plates full of adjectives to describe food.

We also offer themed curricula, including “Shhhh! Secrets,” “Dream It Up,” “Take Flight,” “What a Mystery” and “Poetry Palooza,” in addition to a series of Mother-Daughter creative writing adventures and in-school residencies.

“Take My Word For It!” offers unique and ever-changing ways for kids to play with words, and¬†encourages enthusiastic and reluctant writers alike to come explore their talents in a safe, supportive environment. We consider ourselves a word incubator – a place where kids’ ideas can be kept warm until they’re ready to hatch.
