Why Not Write Wednesday: Back to School

Every Wednesday our creative writing prompt encourages you to take up your pen and indulge your author self!

Welcome back to school with our first "Why Not Write Wednesday" of the school year. The start of the school year is a time for new beginnings. For today, write about the new things you are most looking forward to doing and learning this year. Are there special field trips your class will get to take this year? Are you excited about seeing your friends or learning new skills? Even if you aren't excited about school starting back up, try and think of at least a few good things about the new school year. Fill your writing with your hopes, dreams and goals and then check back on what you created at the halfway point and near the end of the year to see if things turned out the way you thought they would. Have fun and be ready to make this the best school year yet!

Every Wednesday this summer our creative writing prompt encourages you to take up your pen and write in your journal. So go ahead, indulge your author self!

Summertime conjures up images of full-blooming nature, fluttering butterflies, and fireflies. It also reflects sweltering sheets, stagnant heat, and restless nights where flipping over a cool pillow is the only way to survive. Write a poem that captures a summer evening's essence in all of its beauty or beast-ness.
