Read it Here First - Baseball Poetry!

The students in our 5th grade Poetry Residency at Sloat Elementary were asked to write about a place that holds meaning or memories for them. Samuel's meaningful place? The baseball diamond!

Baseball Field

by Samuel

Baseball starts in
Spring
When fields are ready to be
Played on
And players are warming up
And baseballs are
Getting dusted
And baseballs hitting bats
Bang! Knock! Crack!
And gloves being worked out
And running players
With their legs sliding on to the
Base
Trying to be safe
When the play has to be quick
Dugouts yelling and celebrating their
Win
Calls from the umpire fill the
Air
Crowds excited for more
Plays
And so are the teammates
HOME RUN!
